Just turning up is fine - but a heads-up helps us plan.

  • No—this isn’t an official running club. There’s no registration, no fees, and no formal structure. It’s a community-led crew open to anyone who wants to run.

  • A Run Club is typically a formal organisation—often affiliated with national athletics bodies, with memberships, fees, and structured training plans. It may compete in events, hold regular AGMs, and maintain a defined leadership structure.

A Run Crew, on the other hand, is informal by design. It’s about community and connection over competition. There’s no membership, no fees—just people showing up to run together. It’s inclusive, social, and grounded in shared energy rather than structured programming. This also means you’re not insured should something go wrong.

  • No, these sessions are free.

  • Each week we’ll alternate between heading into Markeaton Park, or going to the hill up to the Potato Farms off Kedleston Road (What 3 Words: SPICY.LASER.WATER).

But we always will start and finish at the Markeaton Pub lower carpark.

  • No—experience isn’t necessary. If you can jog for a few minutes at a time and want to improve, you’ll fit right in.

  • We warm up and cool down as a group at the pace of the slowest runners—no one gets left behind. During the effort sections, everyone runs at their own pace on looped courses, so we stay close and connected throughout.

  • Sessions last around 45–50 minutes, covering roughly 6 to 9km. That includes warm-up, efforts, and cool down.

  • Dress in layers so you stay warm before and after the run. You can leave extra kit at the start/finish area during efforts—just be aware it’s briefly unattended while we all run. If that’s a concern, leave valuables in your car and warm up in your running gear.

  • The Markeaton pub is located at 434 Kedleston Road, Allestree, Derby, DE22 2TF.

The What 3 Words for where we set off from at 6am is “HIPS.SHARK.PETS.”

  • Yes—rain doesn’t stop us. We only cancel if there’s a severe weather warning or unsafe conditions.

  • If you’ve registered your details above, you’ll get an email or WhatsApp the day before if we ever need to cancel.

CREW LEADER

You’ll be running with me - Dave. I’ve set up this run crew for the purpose of staying fit and having people to run with.

In 2005 I began coaching back in Australia, when I was at the start of my professional triathlon journey.

These days I work shaping runner experiences for brands like adidas, Nike, and Intersport.

I can’t wait to run with you.
